Took myself to Bill Cunningham New York last night. It is a touching documentary about the fashion photographer and charming blue-coat-wearing man behind the New York Times "On the Street" and "Evening Hours". Inspiring and down to earth. It's obvious throughout the film that Mr. Cunningham doesn't consider what he does work but instead fun. He has been obsessed with clothing/fashion all his life, not celebrity. His photos are all about what he see's real people wearing daily. He knew what he was interested in and he has made it work for him. Good enough for me. Awesome show, great job.

It's March/almost April, time to update the summer sandal selection.

Givenchy fisherman wedge! I don't normally condone knocks off's but I sure hope this one trickles down the food chain so I can actually get it, well something like it anyways.

taking it to the streets
You'd be surprised how fast knuckle scratches don't heal.
BCBGeneration dress, BP boots, American Apparel hoodie, assorted jewelry
I enjoyed a trip to Olvera Street in downtown LA this weekend. Even though I live in LA, I could always use a dose of culture and a churro.
I decided that I love wearing day-friendly floor length dresses even if they are slightly see through in the right light. I've also been wearing my faux leather American Apparel hoodie a lot more lately. It's the perfect weight for the transition weather into spring/summer.

google image Wayne Campbell and I have something in common; We both talk to ourselves about what we want. Although what I want isn't a tight clothed wearing Tia Carrere it is still equally important! I will patiently wait for these, like good girls do. I don't think I can get through summer without them. Scratch that, I don't WANT to get through summer without them. Julian Louie's Spring 2011 Aldo shoes, read here. To be sold online and in stores April 18th. I better get to bed early April 17th...

amber spring
Don't worry about that knuckle scratch.
Silence and Noise jacket, Elizabeth and James boots, BDG jeans, UO white tee, assorted jewelry
We didn't use a clothing line growing up because my brother was basically allergic to all things outdoors.
I was hesitant about this jacket when I first saw it because it looked like it should smell like pumpkin spice/fall. But then I realized it's just a different shade of the blush/neutral tones that are spring friendly this year. I love neutral tones but let's be honest; pale, redheaded cats like myself don't always look the best in wash out colors. Amber is still in the same neighborhood, it's just around the color block. And I can always wear the neutral tones elsewhere, like on my piggy's for instance. I'm also wearing the same legging as mentioned here just in the denim color. You must get them, it's like wearing pj's only not.

midwest mist
BCBGeneration skirt, Forever 21 top, Sam Edelman bootie, assorted jewelry-H&M, mothers closet, thrifted
So I've returned from the homeland feeling recharged and ready for spring in LA. It's getting harder and harder to say goodbye to the Midwest but at the same time I can't stop smiling when I see the LA lights below me from the plane window. Oh life.
Among the many things that happened this weekend one that sticks out the most is the weather. One second I had layers on, the next I was holding my hair from blowing straight up and striping my jacket off from heat. It still holds true that if you don't like the weather in Nebraska, wait a second and it'll change. Above, Frankie the pug and I played in the field behind my folks house on a misty morning. I tiptoed around trying to keep my skirt from getting dewy damp and Frankie weaved in and out of the weeds eating whatever she came across. Staying dry wasn't really an option though because shortly after this Frankie ran through a puddle and jumped in my lap. I still love pugs. And printed maxi skirts.
