forecast grey

jeans BDG urban outfitters, jacket Curio Nine, tank and belt banana republic, pump Cole Hann

I actually don't even really like ruffles (the jacket detail not the chips) and I had forgotten about this jacket until I decided I wanted to wear all grey. I like wearing all one color.

something old

I wish I was better versed in the popular world of 'vintage' because I can't help but love most things of the nature. I like the one-of-a-kind feel each piece has. It's like it's survived just that long so it could end up in my paws.

How neat is it that names use to be stitched on the inside of jackets? Way classier than sharpie on your underwear tags.
Vintage fur is ok especially when it comes straight from your grandma. I came into possession of this fur caplet a little over a year ago and I make every excuse to wear it as often as possible.

Snap shot of my mother in 1956
great great grandmother's hand painted violet china circa the 1920s
beatrix potter's peter rabbit used in my nursery
beatrix potter's Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail also from my nursery
Bulova watch from grandma circa 1940s
Pocket fob from great grandfather circa 1930s
Pearl purse carried by my maternal grandmother during her wedding in 1951 and then by my mother in her wedding in 1977 (at least I've got my "something old" no pressure though)
Engraved powder compress given to my grandma from my grandpa (at least I think so, Bob's a common name though)

Now I've gotta go dust.

Water for Elephants

scanned photos from Water for Elephants
Max&Cleo dress, Marc by Marc Jacob mary janes, Topshop headband, vintage earrings from grandma, gloves from unknown costume shop

I finally read Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and was thoroughly entertained. It reminded me of when my mother use to threaten to send, "you kids off to the circus if you don't _____ "(whatever the case may be). Luckily my lack of beard/500 lbs./trapeze skills weren't the only things keeping me from the road life but the fact that a circus never came through town definitely saved me. After reading Water for Elephants I realize just how epic and fashionable a circus lifestyle use to be. Maybe if I was raised in the Prohibition era I would have taken her up on her offer...I do enjoy fishnets and fringe.

Make sure you do the right thing and read the book before you go and see this, due out April 22, 2011.

Keep your peepers peeled for these this spring.

I am not confused with flatforms. Elevated flats. Wonderful.

I do slip out of mine sometimes when I wear them with tights (shown above) so I have to be careful where I walk. A rolled ankle doesn't hurt any less in a cute shoe.
